Rochester, NY - Cokie Roberts — ABC News political commentator, National Public Radio news analyst and bestselling author — will deliver the keynote address at this year's Susan B. Anthony Birthday Luncheon. Scheduled for tomorrow -- Tuesday, February 22 -- from noon until 1:30 p.m., the event will be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
In addition, Roberts will speak to members of the media at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Riverside Court, located on the first floor of the convention center. All media are invited to attend. Reporters, photographers and camerapersons are invited to stay during the luncheon. Cameras will be permitted.
Roberts, with more than 30 years in broadcasting, has won numerous awards including two Emmys. She has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame, and was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. Along with Sam Donaldson, Roberts co-anchored the weekend ABC interview program, This Week, from 1996-2002.
Roberts' first book, We Are Our Mothers' Daughters, the story of women's roles and relationships throughout American history, was a bestseller on the New York Times list. Roberts' current book, Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation, is the story of women who played instrumental roles during the Revolutionary War and the early decades of America as a free nation. She will sign copies of her current book after the luncheon.
The major sponsor for the event is RBC Dain Rauscher; additional sponsors include Citizens Bank, Unity Health Systems, television station 13-WHAM, and WXXI.
